Mom started her life in Nova Scotia, one of 17 children, and lived a full and colourful life. She worked as a nurse’s aide in Quebec and Ontario then came to BC in 1973 where she worked on fishing boats with her second husband George Prevost. She spent 14 years in Victoria, B.C., mostly as an apartment manager, retiring early to Deka Lake in 1989, where she bought her first home. Mom and Mary worked hard to turn it into their own piece of paradise. Helen passed peacefully in Kamloops, B.C. and will be dearly missed by many friends and family: daughter-in-law Vickie; daughter Mary Downey; sons Raymond (Linda), Gary (Lillian), Jay (Bridgette); daughter Nancy (Greg); as well as grandchildren Vince (Audrey), Joe (Celina), Steven (Yolanda), Brenda, Sarah (Steven), Jonquil, Devon, Alandria, Julie, Jason, Clara, Baby Crosby, Christopher, Kylie, Tanner and Kiera; great grandchildren William, Deserae and four more in Ontario. Predeceased by son Brian. No formal service by Mom’s request. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the 100 Mile Food Bank in Helen’s name.
