Born Freda Jean Sanford in Lake Egmont, Nova Scotia September 16, 1945, the third child of Albert and Beatrice Aileen Sanford. Freda came with the rest of the family in 1959 to Lac la Hache. There she met her first husband Ken Bryce, having only one child, Doug Bryce, born November 5, 1966 in Williams Lake, BC. Later in life Freda would marry Dan Meda of Lac la Hache, April 11, 1980, in Duncan, BC. Freda and Dan had a trucking business and lived in Prince George for many years before moving back to Lac la Hache, where she enjoyed her garden, flowers and life on the lake. After a second hard-fought battle, Freda lost her life to cancer on April 8, 2008 with family and friends at her side. Freda is survived by her husband Dan Meda, her son Doug (Sharon) Bryce, her precious granddaughters Haylea, Brett and Amber; step-children Jackie (Adrian), Diane, Wayne and Rubyann; sister Eva (Stanley); brothers Earl (Josie), Larry (Marlene), Kenny (Helen), Aubrey (Vicki) and Leonard (Tari). Freda leaves behind many nieces and nephews, other family members and numerous friends that cared for her and will miss her deeply. A Celebration of Life was held at the Lac la Hache Community Hall Saturday, April 12th. The family wishes to thank everyone who sent flowers to the service and were there for the family during this difficult time. A special thank you also goes out to Wally Gilfoy and to the staff at the 100 Mile Hospital.
