After a lengthy illness, Ian passed away quietly on Dec. 14, 2003 with his wife Joanne by his side. He is survived by his loving wife Joanne, children Kelle (Clay) and Brett and grandson Darien. He is also survived by his parents Len and Mary, sisters Frances (Garnet) and Ruth (Pete), and brothers Alan and Hugh. Ian was known to his close friends as ‘Gentle Ben’ or ‘The Griz’. He was a big man with a heart of gold — a simple man living a complicated life, who saw the good in everyone and made the most of every single day. A Celebration of Life tea will be held in his memory at 2:30pm on Dec. 27, 2003 in the Valley Room at the Emissaries of BC Lodge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ian’s name to 100 Mile Search and Rescue. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Blair Main for his care and compassion, as well as the wonderful nursing staff at the 100 Mile Hospital. An extra special thank you goes to Home Health Care Nurses Anne Marie, Bev and May, not only for their excellent care, but for taking the time to make their visits enjoyable.
