Claire Annette SANDBACK

Claire was born in Flin Flon, Man. on May 10, 1934 to Joseph and Albertine Poirier; she was the sixth of seven children. The family moved to Millardville, B.C. and Claire remained there until her move to Forest Grove, BC. Engar Sandback became Claire’s husband in 1951. Together they had four children and lived on the ranch in Forest Grove where Engar’s parents homesteaded in 1918. Engar passed away in 1961 due to Multiple Sclerosis. Claire raised all four children on the ranch until she sold it to her oldest son in 1974. The coast became her home once again; however after a few months, Claire returned to 100 Mile House in 1977 and lived out her life there. Claire’s favorite pastime was doing crossword puzzles and going to Smitty’s for coffee. She looked forward to going up north to visit her daughter in the sring and fall. Claire was also predeceased by her parents, sister Presentine Newberry and brothers Alex and Leo Poirier. She leaves to mourn her passing; three sons: Robert (Sharlene), John (Joan) and Steven; one daughter: Irene (Jack); nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Claire is also survived by two brothers: Oscar (Evelyn), Roland (Esther) and one sister, Rose Anne. Burial of ashes will take place at Forest Grove Cemetery on Oct. 30, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. 100 Mile Funeral Service in charge of the arrangements. 395-3243
