Barb died suddenly Nov. 21, 2003 in 100 Mile House, B.C. at age 65. She is survived and greatly missed by her loving family: husband Gerry; daughter Pam, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; son Randy (Cheryl), Hope, B.C.; daughter Patty (Roland), Sardis, B.C.; son Reg, Peachland, B.C.; her grandchildren Carla Swope, Collin Swope, Megan Girard and Travis Girard. She is also survived by her mother Lois Helzer of Arvada, Colorado; her sisters Jean and Betty, Arvada; and her brother Doug (Diana) and nephew Joe of Bend, Oregon. Barb was a member of the Deka Lake Ladies Auxiliary, the Deka Lake Ratepayers Association, and had just become a member of Highway 24 Interlakes Lions Club. She enjoyed helping with community projects. She has been a tremendous help to her husband, Gerry as an interpreter for the past several years since he has become very hard of hearing. A celebration of Barb’s life will be held at the Deka Lake Fire Hall at 3:00 p.m. on Fri., Nov. 28, 2003. In lieu of flowers, donations to the B.C. and Yukon Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
