It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Albert Mercurio at the age of 76 years. Albert was born in Francavilla, Abruzzi, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1951. He met and married his soulmate Elsie, who predeceased him in 1991. He lived in Vancouver and spent most of his widowed years enjoying the serenity of Green Lake. Albert is lovingly remembered by his brothers: Guy (Mary), Mike (Sharon); sisters: Maria (Felice), Gabriella (Benito); brothers-in-law: Norm (Marion), Charles and sister-in-law Edna; and many nieces and nephews. Albert was a caring and committed husband, son, brother, uncle and dear friend to many He will be missed by all who were touched by him and will now be forever reunited with his loving wife Elsie. Prayers will be offered Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Church, 1450 Delta Ave., Burnaby, B.C. where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. Entombment to follow at the Abbey, Ocean View Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in Albert’s memory may be given to the BC Cancer Foundation.
