Two FireSmart meetings will be held in the district to help residents prepare for any future fires.

The meetings will focus on preparing the area immediately around your house, abling you by creating free fuel free space which will assist firefighters in fighting future fires and protecting property.

It is also recommended that shrubs, deadfall and trees are removed and grass is mowed and watered. Woodpiles, propane tanks and other combustible items should be stored away from any kind of vegetation.

The two meetings will give attendees other tips on reducing the potential of a fire on their property. An update from Cariboo Regional District Recovery Manager Stephanie Masun and presentations by the BC Wildfire Service are also included.

The two meetings are at the 108 Community Hall on March 5 and the Lac la Hache Community Hall on March 8. Both meetings start at 7:30 p.m.

The 108 meeting will include an update on the Walker Valley Fuel Reduction Rick.
