There will be an information session for parents at Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School (PSO) with staff and local RCMP following recent unfounded rumours for potential violence against students.

PSO principal Geoff Butcher says they made the decision after they received questions from parents.

“It’s more to do with where are we at now? Is there certain things kids should be doing? Is it safe to come to school? Those kinds of comments. They don’t have huge amounts but they’re enough that it’d be nice to give parents an opportunity to find out how we conduct investigations into these kinds of things and what kind of process we use to determine threats or non-threat.”

The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10.

Butcher says the meeting is primarily for parents as the issue has already been discussed with students.

“This is for parents who still have lingering questions or concerns about the circumstances and what the process was for dealing with a situation like this.”
