Folks are once again invited to take in the annual Bird & Botany Walk hosted by the Horse Lake Community Farm Co-operative at the Betty Place (co-op) farm.

Co-op representative Rob Diether says “intrepid” biologists Kristi Iverson and Ken Mackenzie will, literally, walk folks through the ins and outs of the scientific bits of everything from how birds and other aspects and animals in nature depend on the grasslands and water.

Diether invites the community to turn out and learn what you can while you explore the natural environment at the farm, but don’t forget your own bird and botany books, as well as sunglasses, a water bottle, a snack – and your curiosity.

The whole co-op crew hopes folks will come out and enjoy the day, by donation to their farm, he adds.

It begins at 8 a.m. near the entrance to the farm on Doman Road (at the east end of the lake), one kilometre north off of Horse Lake Road.

Diether says anyone can stay on to join the co-op for a lunch and work bee – or who turns out later just for that – will be much appreciated to help them remove a tin roof for recycling in preparation of renovating an old farm trailer.
