The big white “greenhouse” tent at Timber Mart is almost bursting at the seams with flowers, bedding plants, baskets, soils and even fencing and brick products to beautify your yard and garden in time for the summer sunshine.

Jessica Totzauer is the Gardening and Landscape Centre staff expert ready and willing to help you with anything you need for your garden and landscaping this season.

She really enjoys assisting the folks who ask for her help with yard and garden designs, especially with her background in landscaping.

“This is only [early in] my second year and I’ve already had people coming back saying ‘oh that was a good choice for my plants’.”

All of the perennials Timber Mart sells are suitable for growing the colder Cariboo climates of the 100 Mile House area, she explains.

“We sell a lot of hardy perennials that come back year after year, and our rosebushes are hardy plants, for Zones 2-3.”

They always stock and sell plenty of vegetable plants along with the flowers, she explains.

These include everything from strawberry plants to pea vines and cauliflower, and new this year, climbing Clematis vines, along with some bamboo stakes and trellises to help support and display your flowers and veggies.

“Our bedding plants are always popular – we are one of the first to bring them out [each spring], and they harden out well, because our tent is not heated, so a lot of people like that.”

Many are already blossoming, including a good selection of hanging baskets overflowing with petunias and other blooms, or fill your own planters or their pots (while they last), with a great variety of bedding plants that are ready to go.

“We have lots of different soils this year, including steer and mushroom manure, and the other soil amendments,” she adds.

“We have landscape ties, and we also have different types of patio blocks – for [raised bed] planters or small walls. This shows off your flowers more, for sure.”

She says more will come in as the summer warms up and much of their earlier spring stock is sold and in the ground.

“Some of the types of herbs we bring in later are things like stevia or chocolate mint … different types of herbs and vines.”

They also have fencing products from iron stakes to hold up deer screening to sturdy new wood and lattice panels for a solid, yet lovely backdrop to any backyard garden.

With its great variety of sprinklers, hoses, gardening tools and gloves, don’t forget to head into the store to check out what else Timber Mart has for more great gardening and landscaping products to make your yard nicer and your work easier, from weeding and watering to building and refurbishing.
