Christmas trees to benefit Special O

100 Mile House TIMBER MART hosts tree sales by donation

Christmas trees to benefit the 100 Mile House Special Olympics are now available at TIMBER MART in 100 Mile House thanks to the efforts of Ralph and Gina Myhill-Jones and a generous neighbour.

The Special O group turned out to the Myhill-Jones' residence on the fringes of the municipality where they harvested the trees on a nearby property on Nov. 27.

"We had about 35 people attending including athletes, volunteers and caregivers," says Ralph. "One of our neighbours kindly offered us trees from their property, so that is where we got them."

After the harvesting was done, they finished off their day socializing by a bonfire and eating chili and hotdogs, he adds.

The owners of TIMBER MART (where Ralph is general manager) continue to generously donate space and staff time for the tree sale, he notes.

"I think this is the fifth year we have had this fundraiser, and the third year 100 per cent of the proceeds have gone to the Special Olympics."

Ralph says everyone got plenty of exercise and had a lot of fun throughout the day.
